Venesky-Brown's client, a public sector organisation in Forfar, is currently looking to recruit an Architectural Technician for an initial 6 month contract with option to extend for up to further 6 months on a rate of £165-195/day (Inside IR35). This role will be a hybrid of working at home and in the office.
Responsibilities:
- Progress a diverse range of projects including housing, new builds, schools, leisure centres, offices and factories from feasibility, sketch and detail design stages to completion as directed by the senior architect.
- Undertake building and land surveys and regular site visits to check quality of work.
- Manage projects and contracts as appropriate.
- Prepare project documents including detailed drawings, specifications and designer risk assessments for general construction projects.
- Undertake duties in compliance with statutory regulations and obligations eg Building and CDM Regulations
- Support the team leader and ensure a high standard of design and project management are achieved and contribute towards the section's objectives of delivering a quality service.
- Liaise with clients, consultants and other professionals within the team and outside organisations providing support services such as water, sewerage, fire and security services.
- Assist with the preparation of reports as required.
- Support and research innovative design solutions as required.
- Participate in the contractor selection process.
Essential Skills:
- HNC in relevant building discipline or equivalent
- Willingness to undertake mandatory information governance training
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office packages
- Experience of AutoCAD
- Technical knowledge of construction techniques
- Knowledge of building regulations
- Good oral communications skills
- Good written communication skills
- Ability to work as part of a team
- An interest in design
- Full, current driving licence
- Access to a vehicle
- At least 5 years relevant post qualification experience or be formally recognised by an appropriate technical body/institution.
Desirable Skills:
- HNC in relevant building discipline or equivalent
- Knowledge of project management
- Knowledge of energy efficiency
- Knowledge of building materials
- Knowledge of CDM regulations
- Knowledge of building contracts
- Knowledge of planning legislation
- Experienced draughtsperson
- Ability to explain technical information and design problems
- Ability to interpret designs
