I have an exciting opportunity that has just become available for an experienced Java developer to join one of the UK's largest retailers as part of their internal technical development team. This position will be at the forefront of some of their largest technical projects, acting as a technical SME for the engineering team.

You will be developing web-based software using Java and related technologies, as well as decoupled user interfaces using the React.js library, for a user base of in-house colleagues and independent retailers. Starting ASAP, paying up to £65,000 per annum.

Key Responsibilities:

• Accountable for the development of corporate applications and services using Java and related technologies.
• Analysis of business requirements and design of appropriate solutions.
• To provide strong technical leadership, direction and mentoring to the Java development team.
• Represent the interests of the Java development team via senior management engagement.
• Champion excellence in the field of web application development and design.
• Identify and support the provision of training and development needs for the Java development team.

Skills Requirement:

• Good commercial experience and understanding of SQL database systems, ideally MySQL and iSeries DB2.
• Experience of cloud computing, ideally AWS.
• Excellent understanding of software design.
• Good understanding of agile and/or lean software development methodologies.
