Location: London
Overview
Network as a Service (NaaS) forms part of Global Network Services within the Bank and is broken down into multiples areas that each deal with a different aspect of technology used to support the network, eg provisioning, inventory, compliance etc. Monitoring and Observability deals with tools used to enable Network Operations to get a clear picture of the state of the network at any given time and to diagnose issues quickly and accurately. Monitoring and Observability functions are currently consolidating onto the VMware Smart Assurance software suite.
What You'll Do
- Working as part of the Monitoring and Observability Scrum carry out development tasks on the VMware Smart Assurance Suite including system integration, data onboarding and dashboard creation.
- Provide 3rd line support services for Monitoring and Observability tools.
- Create and update user and sysadmin documentation in Confluence and any other required platforms. Be a champion for documentation and ensure that users are aware of its existence and how to find the information they need quickly and easily.
- Create support requests with 3rd party tools vendors and work with their support teams to ensure the timely resolution of issues. Demonstrate issues, gather logs and other information and keep users and colleagues up to date.
- Liaise with Network Operations and other users of the tools to ensure that they get the most out of them whilst they are investigating issues.
Skills You'll Need
- An in-depth knowledge of the VMware Smart Assurance suite is preferred (especially MnR/W4N), alternatively knowledge of other major tools used for this function.
- Expert level knowledge of Scripting in the Bash Shell.
- Solid experience of the Linux operating system.
- Working knowledge of Python.
- In depth knowledge of Network Management protocols like SNMP and Syslog along with an appreciation of emerging technologies like streaming telemetry.
- A good foundation in modern campus, data centre and WAN networking technologies including MPLS, EVPN and VXLAN.
Skills That Will Help You Excel
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal, with attention to detail.
- Ability to work in virtual teams and in Matrix structures
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
