Are you a Category Manager with experience in either Technology or Lab and Engineering?

The role

We are currently partnered with one of the UK's largest and most successful educational institutions who are looking for an experienced Category Manager to join their finance department. This is a crucial role within the department and you will report directly to the Head of Procurement.

Responsibilities and key duties:

As an experienced Category Manager you will be responsible for a number of general responsibilities and main duties, including but not limited to the below:

  • You will be responsible for defining, developing and implementing a strategic category management plan within your assigned area.
  • As the Category Manager you will be responsible for liaising with multiple different stakeholders across the business in order to make sure your plan is integrated within relevant areas of the organisation. Stakeholders will also look to you for commercial and procurement advice.
  • You will also be responsible for working under minimal supervision when it comes to tendering, leading commercial negotiations along with drafting and negotiating commercial contracts.
  • Another vital duty will include working closely with the Head of Procurement in order to ensure compliance across the department along side supporting them to lead a high performing customer focused team.

Essential Skills:

As the successful candidate, you will be expected to show a variety of skills and personal traits including:

  • Experience working as a category manager within a dynamic procurement function or similar.
  • You will have substantial experience in developing and integrating a strategic category plan.
  • You will have exceptional communication skills and will be able to demonstrate your stakeholder management abilities in order to develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders.
  • To be successful in this role you will have a strategic and analytical way of thinking.
  • Must have relevant experience as a Category manager in similar areas of either Lab and Engineering or Technology.
