Middle Office Operations Specialist

Cititec Talent has partnered with a distinguished and diversified trading firm with over 30 years of expertise, is seeking a Middle Office Operations Specialist to contribute to the success of their Energy trading desks.

A global presence spanning the U.S., Canada, Europe, and Asia, our client operates across various asset classes, including Fixed Income, ETFs, Equities, FX, Commodities, and Energy. In addition to traditional trading, they have successfully ventured into real estate, venture capital, and cryptoassets.

The Role:

As a Middle Office Operations Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in supporting client's Energy trading desks. Your responsibilities will encompass trade capture, confirmation, reconciliation, and profit-and-loss analysis. Communication is key, as you will collaborate with Front Office traders, Back Office teams, and senior management across various departments. Key Responsibilities:

  • Own and master the processes supporting operational and trader assistant functions for Energy trading desks.
  • Reconcile trades and positions with clearing firms and prime brokers.
  • Calculate and substantiate daily P&L, ensuring alignment with standards.
  • Gain proficiency in proprietary and third-party trade capture, inventory management, and P&L reporting systems.
  • Act as a process super-user, resolving issues and providing critical support for workflow enhancements.
  • Collaborate with technical personnel to enhance workflows, ensuring efficiency and risk reduction.
  • Support traders' tools, integrating technologies aligned with firm standards.
  • Liaise with the Business Liaison team for correct onboarding of new desks, traders, and products.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in middle and Back Office physical power and gas operations.
  • Strong knowledge and expertise in EMEA gas and power markets.
  • Familiarity with Front Office and senior management in an active trading environment is preferred.
  • Ability to work with databases and utilize data from APIs.
  • Strong MS Excel skills, including VBA experience.
  • Python coding skills (preferred but not required).
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or equivalent exposure.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently and quickly solve problems.
  • Able to handle sensitive financial data appropriately
