SC Cleared Lead Cloud Architect, AWS Architect
Our client a leading Government body in the UK are seeking to recruit a Lead AWS Cloud Architect for an initial 6 month duration 100% home based.
The Lead Cloud Architect - AWS will work with projects and programmes of all scales to support delivery of end-to-end cloud architecture, and implement designs based on requirements, strategic drivers, best practices, and guidance. You will have the primary responsibility for ensuring that any designed solution is fit for purpose, meets business needs, and can highlight any areas of deficiency or strategic conflict. You will play an active part in the realisation of the desired business outcomes, which can involve the actual build out of cloud infrastructure, using templates (ARM/Jenkins/Terraform) or similar approaches to enforce compliance to standards and patterns. You will be expected to cover the end-to-end solution with support from specialists in both business and other technical domains. You will work with colleagues to ensure solution designs meet service, security, and operational needs.
Key responsibilities
The Lead Cloud Architect - AWS has:
Experience of designing and building AWS cloud architectures in support of IT programmes and projects.
A practical understanding of architectural models of application and solution delivery.
Hands-on experience and knowledge of the AWS cloud ecosystem.
A strong understanding of the technical implications of delivering across infrastructure and cloud (or hybrid) environments.
Experience of working in a multi-supplier environment, across the solution design life cycle.
Technical
You can translate technical concepts relating to software engineering, delivery management and service management so they are understood by all. You can mediate between people and mend relationships, communicating with stakeholders at all levels (Communicating between the technical and non-technical [technical architect] - Expert).
You can evolve and define governance. You can take responsibility for working with and supporting other staff in wider governance. You can assure services across sets of services. You can use tools such as standards, guardrails, and principles to effectively govern delivery (Governance and assurance - Practitioner).
You can make decisions characterised by medium levels of risk and complexity and recommend decisions as risk and complexity increase. You can build consensus between services or independent stakeholders (Making and guiding decisions - Practitioner).
You can define and challenge strategies, patterns, standards, policies, roadmaps, and vision statements. You can provide proactive advice and guidance for their definition across the organisation (Strategy - Practitioner).
You can work with business and technology stakeholders to translate business problems into technical designs. You can create optimal designs through iterative processes, aligning the system requirements and organisational objectives with the user needs. You can design systems characterised by high levels of risk, impact and business or technical complexity (Turning business problems into technical design - Expert).
You can look beyond the immediate technical problem and identify the wider implications. You can demonstrate knowledge of the relevant historical context and future impact. You can understand how current work fits in broader contexts and strategies. You can identify deeper underlying problems and opportunities. You can understand trends and practices within the
broader organisation and how these will impact your work. You can look for deeper underlying problems and opportunities. You can anticipate problems before they occur. You can identify the impact of changes to policy (Understanding the whole context - Practitioner).
