Cloud Network Service Engineer

  • £55,000 - 60,000 + benefits
  • Based from any regional UK office with hybrid work from home set up.

Leading professional services company is actively recruiting for an ex hands on technician who can will be responsible for aligning Business requirements and Service Platform provisions across the Networking foundation for Business Infrastructure and Cloud Services for the firm.

The focus of this role is to manage the cloud network which involves managing the supplier who run the cloud network.

An example would be:

Changes to Back End of routing to SDWAN which connects to Azure - How do you get the info? You wouldn't necessarily be doing the work but you'd need to have the technical knowledge to understand and sometimes direct the supplier in terms of key changes that need to be done to the evolving network cloud infrastructure.

Someone from an MSP background or who has worked with an MSP would be a good fit for this role as it's network engineering from an operations perspective.

The Cloud Network Engineer will provide configuration and customization support and oversight as well as ensuring Core Operating processes are matured, working closely with a 3rd party managed service.

Role and Responsibilities for the position of Cloud Network Engineer

  • The position will be the product SME for any further project, enhancement or service improvement efforts.
  • This is a key role as this individual will maintain delivery of the highest standards in quality service delivery and operational standards and that they will ensure that on a day-to-day availability and high level of functionality of the Core Platform.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience required for the position of Cloud Network Engineer

  • Responsible for Network connectivity provision and availability
  • Familiar with Current and Legacy Network Technology across traditional Core Networks and Cloud Services
  • Familiar with SD-WAN and MPLS Network protocols
  • Local Area Network (Switching/Routing)
  • Wide-Area-Network (MPLS, SD-WAN)
  • Wireless Network (Meraki, Aruba, Cisco)
  • Firewall rules (definition and management)
  • Load Balancing Services
  • Network configuration support, oversight and documentation
  • Ensure that data flow diagrams are accurately completed to provide exact network connectivity
  • Coordinate changes working alongside other network and Firewall teams
  • Support Cloud Architects and Service providers to deliver operations and migration services that allow the organization/clients the availability to deliver cloud computing services following business and technical requirements
  • Responsible for the support oversight of upgrade, installation, and configuration of monitoring solutions for Cloud, Windows, and other key Servers
  • Provide reports on current infrastructure status and plan for future usage
  • Responsible for the configuration and support of backbones connection over across the estate and in/out of Cloud (Azure) inc. an array of direct connections
  • Utilize approved tools to verify and take required action on events aggregated from network monitoring tools and Web Application Firewall
  • Responsible for troubleshooting to ascertain root cause of issues
  • Support network system updates, patches, and configuration changes
  • Map network layouts and configure systems to user environments.
  • Demonstrable experience of working in an IT Support environment, (preferably in 2nd or 3rd line) with knowledge of ITIL standards and use of case management systems
  • Strong investigative, analysis, troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to analyse complex business requirements, requests or problems and translate into appropriate actions and solutions.
  • Business awareness: specific knowledge of the organization's business areas, drivers, structure, priorities etc. would be desirable
  • Experience of delivering end-user training and producing/maintaining training documentation
  • System documentation experience
  • Effective oral and written communication with a clear customer focus
