Salary: National ranging from £49,700 to £60,000 and London from £53,300 to £65,000
Are you someone who wants to make a real difference through your work?
The team/department
We're looking for a candidate with policy or problem-solving experience, and ideally ESG knowledge, to become an advisor in the FCA's ESG Policy & Advisory team.
ESG issues are at the heart of what the FCA, industry and broader society care about. This critical role will provide the successful candidate with a unique opportunity to make a real difference to the world around us, as we lead the FCA's regulatory work on important sustainability issues.
You'll have the opportunity to drive forward challenging and stimulating FCA ESG policy projects. You'll develop and work with a deep network of stakeholders and promote the FCA's work externally.
This is a high profile, exciting and satisfying opportunity that would suit an individual with policymaking or problem-solving experience and ideally strong ESG knowledge, that is keen to get involved with the FCA's ESG work.
What you will be doing (the role)
The role will sit in the FCA's ESG Policy and Advisory Team. Working within a dynamic, talented, and collaborative team, the successful candidate will:
Drive forward and support ESG policy projects, including FCA's work in the market for data and ratings and sustainable disclosure requirement as well as cross-cutting work
Work on related projects across the wider FCA ESG Division, and FCA more broadly
Build and maintain strong working relationships with external stakeholders, the wider FCA ESG Division and the FCA more broadly to ensure coordinated and timely implementation of projects
Act as a knowledge resource for ESG matters, providing advice and support to the team, wider division and FCA
What you will get from the role
The financial sector has an important role to play in helping the transition to a net zero economy and a fairer, more sustainable long-term future - you will help us provide the right regulatory framework and standards
Build upon your ESG subject matter expertise and strong policy making or problem-solving skills - contributing to work that makes a real difference to our world
Exposure to and contribute to thought leadership and debate by providing honest and open views on the challenging issues the division is addressing
Part of an inclusive collaborative team - leading on key pieces of work
Exposure to, and promote, our work both domestically and internationally
Our competitive flexible benefits scheme gives you the opportunity to create a personalised benefits package, tailored to suit your life cycle. You can use this allowance to purchase additional benefits such as dental or cycle to work or you have the option top up your base salary by taking this as cash.
Core benefits that you will receive as standard are:
25 days holiday per year plus bank holidays
Private healthcare with Bupa
A non-contributory Pension of at least 8% of basic salary each month (there are several contribution levels that increase depending on your age - up to 12% a month once you reach age 35)
Life assurance of eight times your basic salary
Income protection
We support hybrid working which means you will be able to work from home up to 60% of the time over a month with the remainder of your time in one of our three office locations.
The skills and experience you will have
Minimum
We are a signatory to the Government's Disability Confident scheme. This means that we will offer an interview to disabled candidates entering under the scheme, should they meet the minimum criteria for a role.
Proven experience in public policymaking, or problem-solving
Evidence of strong written communication skills
Demonstrable evidence of developing and managing stakeholder relationships
Essential
Good understanding of, or willingness to learn about, FCA decision-making and policy processes, and the willingness to deliver high-profile projects within the FCA
Ability to coordinate inputs from a wide network of colleagues on policy projects
Work collaboratively on cross-organisational projects and maintain effective relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
Flexibility and commitment to the role, including the ability to work well under pressure, and sometimes to short deadlines
