Job Description:
Harvey Nash's public sector client requires an experienced Django developer to work on an exciting project to implement a new timetabling system.
They have identified student and staff facing services (web applications) which will be impacted by the change of timetabling system.
The work required from you will be to update or redevelop one or more of these applications so that they are compatible with the new timetabling system.
The first application on the priority list is a PHP application which was written in-house. Therefore, you will have substantial Django experience, with PHP skills highly desirable too.
You will work alongside developers and other project team members (PM, BA, testers, etc), but will be expected to be proactive and take the initiative to lead on assigned work packages.
Main Duties:
- Developing Django applications
- Building and interacting with APIs
- Designing and building web UIs
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Python
- PHP
- Extensive experience in building large Django applications
- Solid Web UI foundation skills - HTML, CSS, JavaScript
- Good understanding of APIs - REST, OpenAPI
Desirable Skills:
- Yii framework
- Laravel framework
- Experience of integration work, for example iPaaS, integration patterns
- Awareness of security concerns surrounding web applications
