Becoming a Network Support Engineer with Capita IT Services – Based in Chelmsford

Based in Chelmsford, Essex this role is required to join the on-site Engineering Team supporting our public sector customer. The role will involve supporting a large array of technologies from various suppliers and the prospect of implementing new systems and solutions as the requirements of the client dictates.

What you will do:

*

Maintain and support an existing LAN/WAN environment supporting 12k+ users.

*

Implement changes to the existing infrastructure and add to the existing infrastructure while adhering to ITIL best practice/embedded processes for Change Management.

*

Have a working knowledge of LAN/WAN/WLAN technology and Firewalls/VPN including dynamic routing protocols (OSPF particularly), next-gen firewalls, DHCP servers, Load Balancers, VOIP, routers and LAN switches (chassis/stack/single devices).

*

Work within a defined SLA and proactively maintain your own ticket queue.

*

Work with other 3rd parties to collectively support the same customer.

*

Take part in the requirement to cover on-site between 8-6 Mon-Fri.

*

Out of Hours work is a necessary part of this job including both evenings and weekends.

*

Document existing and new infrastructure correctly and efficiently and identify prospects for improvements/rationalisation.

*

Travel regularly within the county, must have full driving licence.

*

Work within a dedicated on-site team.

*

Identification and planning of equipment upgrade paths to ensure supported network equipment is not EoL.

Your experience will include:

*

Extensive experience of WAN, LAN & Voice network solutions.

*

Ideally a minimum of Cisco CCNA or looking to achieve this.

*

Ideally experience of Palo Alto Firewalls.

*

Experience working with MPLS and a multi-VRF environment .

*

Highly effective & demonstrable customer engagement skills to build & maintain excellent working relationships with internal & external customers.

*

Proficient in IT technology with excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.

*

Ability to create and follow implementation designs.

*

Excellent communication skills.
