Role: Tech/Dev Lead

Client: Financial Services organisation

Location: Edinburgh Area

Duration: 6 Months initial contract

Rate: Market rate


• Provide leadership to the development team

• Manage the delivery schedule for your team

• Ensure your team follow best practice source code management, CICD and Agile working practices

• Identify potential uses of new technologies and champion them within the department

• Mentor other staff members in best practices and industry norms

• Ensure software meets the client’s needs as defined within the project requirements and aligns to the direction of the product

• Identify and ensure software meets non-functional requirements

• Hands on delivery splitting your time appropriately between delivery and management / leadership responsibilities

• Ensure that the Head of Delivery is kept informed, in a timely manner, of any Product/Project deviating from the agreed development schedule

• Lead the team and set the example of a test first mindset ensuring the overall quality of the product by testing your own work and surrounding areas, creating valuable unit tests and any other automated tests as appropriate; you will ensure your team adopt to this also

• Drive the design of the solutions

• Collaborate with our implementation and support teams to support structured and rigorous customer expectation management

• Improve upon existing development processes, coding standards, code reviews, practices and operations to ensure reproducible development while keeping costs under control.

• Leverage appropriate processes and practices to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of your team

• Provide support to the Help Desk and Implementation teams

• Support any other duties as may be reasonably required of the role or business


Management and Leadership

• 3+ years leading cross-functional agile teams

• Able to understand and articulate the goals and objectives of the Product or Project

• Strong and proven ability to ensure that the right tasks are assigned to the right people

• Able to identify areas for staff improvement, training and development

• Experience in scheduling and reporting on software development/projects

• You will have a firm grasp and be experienced in continuous improvement techniques


• Knowledge of product to assist project management teams in its development which may involve customer and vendor visits

• Ability to translate product requirements into technical specifications.

• Ability to analysis product performance and provide ways to innovate.

• Good knowledge of the business requirement to enable reliable development decisions.

• Knowledge of technology and data that can reduce development cost – such as licensing third party developed software.


• 5+ years software engineering (at least 4 of which must be in .NET, ASP.Net, MVC and Core)

• 3+ years of strong SQL experience (must be experienced with stored procedures)

• Experience in the following technologies is desirable REST, Nant, HTML, CSS, Jenkins, NuGet, SonarQube, SVN, Git, PowerShell, REST, JMeter

• Experience in third-party implementing integrations

• Experience of various version control strategies

• Strong experience using tools such as JIRA, Confluence, MS Teams, Jenkins, SonarQube to manage and monitor your team and software deliveries

• Strong experience with TDD and BDD

• Strong knowledge of design patterns

• Strong desire to keep up with the latest trends in technolog
