What you will do in your working day
As an Apprentice Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineer you will learn from an experienced Engineer, visiting a variety of client sites putting theory into practice. This could range from small air-conditioning units that manage temperatures in an office, through to large industrial units that cool nuclear power plants, and lots in-between. This will be lots of hands on work, using a variety of tools and working on complex machinery. You will benefit from learning a broad range of mechanical engineering skills to launch your career as an Engineer.
The training you will be getting
The apprenticeship will combine on-the-job work experience, with time at college to achieve a Level 3 Diploma. What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship
After your 3 years' apprenticeship you will become an accredited Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineer, rolling off your apprenticeship as a graded engineer within Johnson Controls. You will then be a qualified engineer in the world leading building controls organisation, offering you a wide range of opportunities to further develop your career and skill set.
Things to consider
You should have a minimum 4 GCSEs or a Level 2 BTEC in an Engineering or IT related subject. Work authorisation for the UK is essential, as is your ability to pass a criminal backgrounds check. You should also feel comfortable when working at height
