The Group IT organisation is responsible for aligning IT with the business on the delivery of DS Smith’s strategic priorities. It will do this by building strategic capabilities, enabling transformational efforts and embedding quality in all systems and processes.

The role provides technical assistance and expertise in developing, accrediting, and deploying security controls and components to protect DS Smith against inside and external threats. This includes pro-actively managing and expanding the coverage of core IT security controls across the enterprise, establishing the required processes and procedures to maintain optimal performance, whilst undertaking any investigation and remediation actions. The role will work closely with the wider Group IT community to ensure service delivery across the business.

The IT Security Analyst will report directly to the Group Head of IT Security.

Key duties of the role:

•Actively participate in the daily coordination and delivery of IT security operations and cyber incident management services.

•Monitor and manage technology dashboards and reports to identify potential threats, suspicious/anomalous activity, malware, etc. Review, respond and investigate alerts generated by detection infrastructure and technologies.

•Actively work with partners, suppliers and the wider IT community to coordinate and support any security or cyber incidents response activities.

•Provide expert analytic investigative support of IT security incidents. Where required support digital forensic investigations through analysis of network packet captures, DNS, proxy, Net flow, malware, host-based security and application logs, as well as logs from diverse types of security sensors.

•Perform risk and technical vulnerability assessments, data classification, attack and penetration analysis, policy compliance and communication. Where required implement processes to protect data confidentiality, integrity, and availability, as well as maintaining the technical mechanisms that enable these controls.

•Guide and actively drive continuous improvement efforts for IT Security services, capabilities and processes. Work closely with the IT community in analysing the IT landscape and security controls to identify gaps and risks. Recommend additional security solutions/services or enhancements to existing security solutions to improve overall enterprise security in line with the IT Security Strategy and Business drivers.

•Act as a subject matter expert (SME) on matters relating to IT security.

•Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the IT security industry including awareness of new or revised security solutions/services, improved security processes and the development of new attacks and threat vectors.

•Support the Head of IT Security in the delivery of the IT Security Strategy.

Skills Required for this role:

•Ability to communicate and build relationships outside the IT function and fosters a collaborative working relationship with various stakeholders.

•Possess strong interpersonal and influencing skills with good stakeholder engagement.

•Ability to analysis complex situations, especially in high pressure and dynamic environments

•Ability to prioritise and quickly resolve issues.

•Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.

•Ability to clearly and effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations.

•Aptitude for learning and developing skillset.

•Ability to work across diverse organizations.

•Promotes positive team spirit, supportive of colleagues and comfortable working in a matrix managed way.

•Extensive experience in IT and business/industry, as well as proven experience in an IT security operations role.

•Experience of large, multi-national cross-functional teams.

•Proven experience or demonstrated capability in working on IT transformational initiatives in complex and dynamic environments.

•IT Security certification such as Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), ISC2 CISSP, CompTIA Security+, SANS GIA Certified Forensic Analyst or SANS GIA Certified Network Forensic Analyst are beneficial but not essential.

•Experience in IT Security technologies and services such as, but not limited to, security training, security incident management and remediation, security information and event management, cloud security and information protection.
