IT Security Manager - IAM - Permanent - Birmingham

IAM Security Manager required for a leading client based in Birmingham. My client is currently seeking an IAM security Manager to effectively manage identity access management (IAM) within the IT security and compliance function. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience and knowledge surrounding overseeing standards, processes, and technology within IAM, contributing to business goals and security requirements.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Take the lead in Identity & Access Management, ensuring the delivery of necessary requirements, methods, and tools to add value and minimize risk across identity governance, privilege management, directory services, authentication, and authorization.
  • Lead the development and upkeep of IAM policies, standard procedures, and documentation.
  • Manage the application and compliance of IAM procedures, with a primary focus on day-to-day IAM operations.
  • Lead the response to incidents within the IAM team, offering recommendations for action and enhancing control mechanisms.
  • Serve as the 'Product Owner' for the internal IAM capability, prioritizing product requirements, crafting product roadmaps, and overseeing the complete product life cycle.
  • Supervise and direct the day-to-day activities of the Managed Service Provider (MSP), responsible for delivering IAM capabilities, while ensuring effective communication with relevant teams.
  • Create, maintain, and test IAM incident management procedures, including the investigation of escalated incidents and facilitating post-incident recovery.
  • Take the lead in IAM risk management activities, focusing on identifying risks and vulnerabilities and assessing their potential impacts to maintain the security of identities.
  • Manage the design, delivery, maintenance, and continuous enhancement of HS2 IAM capabilities in alignment with business needs.
  • Oversee the Identity security perimeter, while streamlining the onboarding and offboarding processes.
  • Champion the Security, Compliance & Identity function, actively improving the team's profile and fostering lasting relationships with stakeholders and teams.
  • Implement an IAM roadmap that delivers essential capabilities supporting business objectives.
  • Actively advocate for and integrate Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) principles into all work, while complying with organizational initiatives, policies, and procedures related to EDI.

Key Competencies:

  • Relationship Building: Proficiency in cultivating and maintaining robust relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Product Management: Skill in managing and nurturing products or services throughout their entire life cycle, from inception through growth, maturity, decline, and retirement.
  • Supplier Management: Ability to align organizational objectives with supplier activities, balancing cost-effectiveness, efficiency, and service quality.
  • Emerging Technology Monitoring: Capability to identify and evaluate new and emerging technologies, products, services, methods, and techniques.

Knowledge Requirements:

  • Understanding of IT Service Frameworks, methodologies, and best practices, such as ITIL v4 and Agile.
  • Proficiency across a broad spectrum of IAM capabilities (eg, JML, PAM, RBAC, etc.).
  • Familiarity with Microsoft IAM capabilities.

Relevant Experience:

  • Proven experience in leading a team through the complete IT service life cycle, continually meeting user needs by adding value and advancing capabilities through continual service improvement.
  • Background in collaborating with supplier teams for the delivery of managed services improvements.
  • Previous involvement in implementing IAM systems and processes.
  • Experience in designing and implementing secure systems, including leading reviews where necessary to address complex security issues.
  • Proficiency in enabling and informing risk-based decisions.
  • Experience in dealing with the security implications of transformation and daily product changes.
  • Competence in working with system architectures, demonstrating a robust understanding of the impact of vulnerabilities on diverse systems.

Salary: £55,000 - £60,000 per annum, plus an excellent benefits package
