Job Title: Technical Lead - Network Engineering

Location: Hybrid (Greater Manchester area)

Are you a seasoned Technical Lead eager to make your mark in the telecommunications sector? I'm representing a client who is on the lookout for a skilled professional to take on the role of Technical Lead - Network Engineering. In this exciting opportunity, you'll be leading a team of engineers responsible for the operation and maintenance of Core IP, MPLS, and Data Centre Networks, including Firewalls.

The Vacancy:

My client is seeking a Technical Lead who will play a pivotal role in tackling technical and operational challenges. Responsibilities will span leading and implementing internal projects, collaborating with cross-team Technical Leads/Senior Engineers, and organising and prioritising projects and workload across the engineering team.

What You'll Be Involved In:

  • Providing crucial input and guidance on technical and operational challenges.
  • Leading and implementing internal projects for capacity enhancement, obsolescence management, and security risk mitigation.
  • Collaborating with cross-team Technical Leads/Senior Engineers to foster an effective DevOps environment.
  • Organising and prioritising projects and workload across the engineering team.
  • Attending and providing a senior technical presence on MSO bridge calls.
  • Reporting on all network activities.
  • Attending technical bridges, managing staffing levels, fault diagnostics, and remediation.

Skills Needed to Make an Impact:

My client is specifically seeking candidates with:

  • Proven experience in providing technical leadership for a team supporting a multi-vendor Service provider network with the latest technologies.
  • Background within a cross-functional structure, emphasising the benefits of automation and collaboration in an operational and engineering (DevOps) community.
  • Expertise in coaching, mentoring, and team development.
  • An appetite to learn new technologies with a keen understanding of the benefits of Network Automation in a multi-vendor environment.
  • Effective communication at all levels of seniority, maintaining and developing key relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to support and maintain a culture of ownership and teamwork, promoting inclusion and importance through soft skills.

Location:

This role is based in Greater Manchester with hybrid working options (1-2 days per week on site).
