Salary: Up to £77,300 plus Annual Incentive, Company Car or Cash Allowance and Excellent Benefits Package
The key purpose of this role will be to lead, plan, and develop the execution of profitable growth for the Large Projects division of SSE Contracting business. Key to this is the development of new opportunities in alignment with Business Strategy and plans for sustainable business growth. You'll leverage robust relationships with key strategic accounts and partners, supported by sales account planning, to ensure agreed objectives and alignment with safety, quality, technical and customer service standards.
You'll also lead a focus on developing customer propositions with enduring long term value and operate as a senior member of the Business Development Management team, interfacing with the rest of the Contracting and Enterprise business aligned to the central business development management team.
This role will directly report to the Director of Business Development for Contracting but will have a matrix management reporting line to the Operational Director for the business area.
Your Skills and Experience:
The ideal candidate for this role will possess a solid understanding of how large Contracting businesses operate; working across multiple product delivery and under different business models. You'll understand the challenges and intricacies of operating successfully within a matrix management structure- ensuring a consultative approach to business development. You'll have an understanding of the challenges facing SSEC business customers across diverse industry sectors and proactive development of value propositions, as well as knowledge of the energy and energy services markets; competitor positioning, current market dynamics and developments with the evolving opportunities these bring to SSE.
You'll be capable of delivering a business model that achieves a successful end-to-end “Solutions” approach to both BAU and strategic customer requirements and will possess an excellent understanding of the UK Large Projects Sector with a MEP value in the range of £3M- £50M. A good working knowledge of the Electrical and Instrumentation Sector and Temporary Power generation markets would be beneficial. You'll have sound financial knowledge with an ability to interpret company accounts and create budgets with client business plans, as well as the ability to share and communicate this knowledge with the wider leadership team.
In addition, you'll have a deep understanding of consultative or challenger sales approaches with an ability to put in place processes and training via the business development leadership team. Extensive experience in overseeing and implementing business development strategies and developing high performing BD teams, with a proven sales management background. You'll have strong leadership and people management skills with the desire to achieve targets directly and through the team. Demonstrable experience in building new market solutions linked to a proven track record of pipeline development and profit / revenue growth.
As an individual, you'll possess gravitas and have a natural ability to lead, articulate and communicate a vision and strategy.

The SSE Enterprise Projects and Operational Support Team support the entire Enterprise division leading the deployment of best practice in assurance, project management, engineering and in handling strategic projects.
