We are searching for an experienced Unix Administration Consultant

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Role Purpose (overall high level summary of the role)

The Infrastructure Security Tooling Engineer is responsible for providing global technical leadership in the design, engineering, implementation and maintenance of the tools used to manage our global Unix / Linux estate. Its purpose and vision are to engineer, define and govern efficient and innovative Unix Linux solutions and infrastructure in support of the global businesses, through collaboration and driving standardisation of technology platforms and solutions.

This role will carry out some or all of the following activities

• Contribute to the setting of technology standards for the domain, participating in Proofs of Concept initiatives and helping to develop solutions for global adoption. The role also performs level 3 support for the domain and the candidate would need to be well versed in standard troubleshooting techniques with a deep technical understanding of hardware and system software and Security Tooling layers, and associated products/processes.

• Set global hardware and security tooling standards, test and certify in lab facility working with vendors, produce best practice solutions for the domain. Provide consultancy, guidance and collaborate with architecture, projects, support and other engineering teams.

• Deliver all technology authorised by Head of DC Server Engineering.

• Consolidate and reduce infrastructure complexity.

• Determine the strategic direction and execute in each of the Technology areas under Enterprise Services responsibility.

• Ensure service quality targets are met for offered services.

• Drive business stakeholder management to define product roadmaps and market available capabilities.

o The role will take on the responsibility of technical SME for one of more Security Tooling products and will necessarily impact the business and the function through the delivery of consistent high quality performance.

o Primarily the Distributed Compute domain but the role will work with customers and stakeholders across multiple domains.

Project delivery and third line activities in line with existing Security policy and standards

Leadership & Teamwork

o The role will drive best practice Engineering solutions through collaboration and leadership.

Input in to POC’s and production of designs and reference architectures.

Operational Effectiveness & Control

o The role will be responsible for ensuring product and service compliance with all security risk and audit requirements and security standards, while also ensuring consistent service delivery.

Continuous compliance with regulatory requirements and measures.

Major Challenges (The challenges inherent in the role that require a continual test of the role holder’s abilities)

As would be consistent with a large and complex organisation it is implicit within the role that there is a requirement to work in a highly pressured environment and to a continuously high standard. The role will be required to lead and influence solutions and drive best practice at all levels of the domain and across the business.

Role Context (The environment and operating conditions of the role including the extent of guidance and authority)

The role will form part of an existing team of experienced engineers. Guidance and support will be available but the role will be required to be ‘self-starting’ and proactively motivated to drive own learning and knowledge acquisition. The role will ultimately become the SME for the product or products assigned and will carry the associated authority that this brings.

Management & Leadership of Regulatory, Compliance & Operational Risk (Operational Risk / FIM requirements)

Demonstrate leadership on Regulatory & Compliance matters. Maintain awareness of operational risk and minimize the likelihood of it occurring including its identification, assessment, mitigation and control, loss identification and reporting in accordance with section B.1.2 of the Group Operations FIM.

Observation of Internal Controls (Compliance Policy / FIM requirements)

Maintain and observe internal control standards, implement and observe Group Compliance Policy, including the timely implementation of recommendations made by internal/external auditors and external regulators. Foster a compliance culture and implement Group Compliance Policy by managing compliance risk in liaison with the Head of Group Compliance, Regional Compliance Officer, Area Compliance Officer or Local Compliance Officer, ensuring adequate compliance resources are in place and training is provided, and optimising relations with regulators.

Required Qualifications:

5-10 years experience

Previous experience in the financial sector
