Senior Systems Engineer
(VMware, SQL, Microsoft Server Family, IIS, WAN Technologies)

50,000 - 55,000 + car allowance + shift allowance + benefits

This is a hybrid role with some office/client visits. You can be based in and around the Glasgow area.

On Call (once a month/shift allowance payable)

You will need to be eligible for SC clearance and resided in the UK for a minimum of 3 years

Your Responsibilities:

Produce outline system designs and specifications, and overall architectures, typologies, configuration data-bases and design documentation of networks and networking technology within hosted services. Specify user/system interfaces, including validation and error correction procedures, processing rules, access, security and audit controls. Assess associated risks, and specify recovery routines and contingency procedures.

Undertake routine installations and de-installations of items of hardware and/or software. Take action to ensure targets are met within established safety and quality procedures, including, where appropriate, handover to the client. Conduct tests of hardware and/or soft-ware using supplied test procedures and diagnostic tools. Correct malfunctions, calling on other experienced colleagues and external resources if required. Document details of all hardware/software items that have been installed and removed.

Specify user/system interfaces, and translate logical designs into physical designs taking account of target environment, performance requirements and existing systems. Produce detailed designs and documents all work using required standards, methods and tools, including prototyping tools where appropriate

You will need to have:

Fundamental Knowledge of System Level Design

Fundamental Knowledge of VMware and NSX

Fundamental Knowledge of Microsoft Server Family including core Servers

High availability always on clustering, IIS (web hosting)

Fundamental Knowledge of network principles, WAN technologies, routing and Global Load balancing.

Fundamental Knowledge of Microsoft SQL

Experience with SIP technologies including WebRTC.

Experience with/architecting or supporting Azure

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Strong business/customer facing experience

Experience/Desirable with Web Map Services

Experience/Desirable with REST API interfaces
