My client one of the world's largest providers of aerospace systems. They are looking for a Principal Performance Engineer.
Job role:
The right candidate shall have the ability to work as part of an integrated product team, using their experience to plan and deliver Performance Engineering work packages.
They will be responsible for developing technical solutions for complex actuation systems by performance trade studies, design performance analysis, modelling, verification and integration.
The Performance Engineer shall appreciate, and be able to discuss, the processes associated with the role, and understand the implications of changes to processes, policies and procedures in these areas.
Key Accountabilities:
- Computer modelling and simulation of actuation systems, including hydraulic systems such as Thrust Reverser Actuation Systems.
- Supporting the design and development of products through static and dynamic analysis, including sizing, sensitivity, and robustness analysis
- Understanding, interpretation, and clarification of Customer requirements.
- Performing trade-off analysis to identify optimised solutions.
- Producing project deliverables, such as Performance Analysis reports.
- Working within a project team, leading a work package and reporting on task status
- Identifying and addressing technical risks and risk mitigation throughout the life of the programme.
- Contribute to the development of standard work and best practise within the function.
Requirements:
- Demonstrated experience of developing computer simulations of complex hydraulic or mechanical systems.
- Expertise in analytical methods and problem solving.
- Operates with the highest level of personal integrity.
- Able to work under own initiative, calm under pressure and responsive to change.
- Logical approach to technical problem resolution and decision making.
- Is committed to sharing knowledge.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Cross-Cultural awareness.
- Process compliance driven.
Essential:
- Degree qualified in a field of Engineering Science
- Experience of leading project work packages
- Experience with Mathworks MatLAB and Simulink
- Knowledge of hydraulic drive systems, namely control valves, actuators, pumps and pipes.
- Able to attend at the Wolverhampton site.
- Able to travel (Up to 10%)
Desirable:
- Knowledge of mechanical/electrical systems.
- Knowledge of system control and monitoring development.
- Experience in system integration and model verification.
- Experience in carrying out complex failure investigations.
- Familiarity with Systems Modelling Language (SysML).
- Application of continuous improvement methods.
