Data Engineering Manager

Hybrid - Leeds

A prominent financial institution, with a Leeds based head office, are looking for a Data Engineering Manager to join their Data team.

Their head office is based in Leeds and due to the collaborative nature of the role, 1-2 days in the office is ideal.

As the Data Engineering Manager you will oversee data infrastructure for big data analytics, warehousing, and reporting in the UK region. Collaborating with regional leaders to ensure data availability, accessibility, and security for operational insights and decision-making.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and execution of the UK data landscape strategy, collaborating closely with infrastructure and application engineering teams to meet business data needs.
  • Supervise a diverse team comprising SQL specialists, SAS specialists, and Azure/Cloud data specialists, guiding their efforts to deliver crucial projects and maintain data system service levels.

  • Uphold the availability and compliance of data and analytics environments, ensuring secure handling of data in transit and at rest, in alignment with local laws and regulations.

About you:

  • Strong background in data management or engineering, preferably in financial services or a heavily regulated sector.

  • Demonstrated track record of delivering data products to support day-to-day business operations.

  • Profound expertise in managing cloud data suites, preferably in Microsoft Azure.

  • Strong communication and leadership abilities, adept at cultivating and overseeing relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
