Job Title: Mechanical & Physical Engineer - NX CAD, MBD, RR Checking

Company Introduction

We have an exciting opportunity now available with one of our leading consultancy clients! They are currently looking for a skilled Mechanical Engineer who will have experience working with NX, RR checking and MBD (Model-Based Definition).

You will be a drafts-man and/or checker working on very high profile projects. You will use creative problem-solving skills work in a team environment and be comfortable communicating clearly and efficiently throughout varying levels of the customer. You will work in an environment that promotes autonomy and initiative, requiring a flexible attitude. Above all, you will have a desire to progress.

Job Responsibilities/Objectives

1. 3D modelling and 2D drafting using CAD packages
2. Working on gas turbine, naval marine and electro-mechanical components and assemblies (electrical engineering knowledge not required)
3. Detailed checking of models and drawings and applicability of manufacturing and quality specifications to design intent requirements (not all candidates will be required to perform checking activities)
4. Input of data in to a shared DMU
5. Producing, modifying and reviewing engineering drawings
6. Use Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
7. Preparing explanatory presentations
8. Applying manufacturing and quality specifications and assigning notes
9. Identifying and communicating potential design problems to the rest of the team
10. Liaising with design team and proposing new concepts and improvements

Required Skills/Experience

1. NX, RR checking and MBD experience.
2. A strong engineering background and/or relevant engineering degree
3. 3D modelling and 2D drafting experience
4. Experience of checking CAD models and drawings (not all candidates will be required to perform checking activities)
5. Good experience with CAD packages, Siemens NX and Catia V5 preferred but not essential
6. Awareness of design of aero-engine systems and all associated components and/or awareness of design of electromechanical systems and associated components
7. High attention to detail
8. Knowledge of manufacturing processes
9. Ability to work quickly and accurately follow client needs
10. Trained and approved in checking drawings by a relevant industry standard eg approved by a major aerospace manufacturer would be beneficial but not essential
