We have a brand new role available in our Leeds depot to be responsible for the production of monthly management accounts for the relevant business unit and to manage and develop a team of Finance Assistants to become best class in delivery of accurate accounts in accordance with company policy and governance.

About the Role

This is a varied and all-encompassing management accounting role and you will be responsible for yearly budgets for your business unit including full profit and loss and capturing all monthly costs allocated to contracts and / or departments accurately with strict application of company policy and governance. As part of the role you will:

* Liaise with the project management and the commercial team to ensure fair contract positions are reported at month end (WIP/MR, accruals, remedial provisions, risks and opportunities, stock)

* Produce and reconcile monthly management accounts including P&L, key performance indicators, variance analysis and supporting commentaries in line with agreed service level agreements and reporting deadlines

* Produce yearly budgets for the business unit including P&L, labour & equipment branch, overheads schedules as well as facilitating the preparation of the budget pack (main assumptions, 3Y plan, and any other table as requested by the Head Office)

* Monitor CAPEX expenditure versus budget

* Manage, control, supervise and allocate workload within financial administration team

* Facilitate ICVs and ensure any internal cost recharges are processed in a timely manner

* Ensure a close control of petty cash (if relevant)

* Act as a guarantor of local financial governance (segregations of duties, financial authorities, engagement rules with suppliers, subcontractors and clients) and ensure compliance with group accounting policies for financial reporting, highlighting in advance any potential issues to management

* Be the primary point of contact for resolution of audit queries

* Support senior management in relevant projects as they arise

About you

You will be a fully qualified Accountant with significant experience in a Management Accountant position or a similar role within a construction or contracting environment. You will also:

* Be able to demonstrate commercial and financial acumen with a strong focus on process

* Show a proactive and adaptable approach to working

* Have an excellent understanding and working knowledge of accounting and reporting systems, applicable legislation and the statutory and regulatory framework

* Demonstrate excellent problem solving and analytical skills

* Have a proven track record of developing a team and driving high team performance

* Have an intermediate-advanced level of understanding of Ms Excel, Ms Power Point and Ms Word
