A new and exciting opportunity for an experienced Composite Design Engineer to join a dynamic and award winning company based in Salisbury. Working within the Aerospace, Motorsport, Marine and Rail sectors.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Study a design brief and develop possible composite design solutions ensuring that the design will work and that products can be made cost effectively and efficiently

* Study, research & develop ideas for new composite products and the processes used to make them

* Provide composite engineering support to Business Development, Product Development and Production departments

* Modify existing products and processes to increase efficiency or improve performance

* Assess the manufacturability, usability, environmental impact and safety of a design

* Supply correctly dimensioned and toleranced drawings, drafting & 3D modelling using CAD and, where available, CAE software (particularly Solidworks) to create prototypes

* Collect and analyse data from tests on prototypes

* Modify and retest designs

* Write regular progress reports and present them to project managers and clients

* Solve lamination issues and accurately survey components for QC procedures

* Assist inspection of delivered parts

* Agree project objectives and provide advice on the management of projects

* Organise composite engineering resource working on projects

* Monitor sub-contractors to ensure quality, time and cost performance

* Ensure, where appropriate, that all production and quality documentation is completed correctly without deviation to ensure product and task traceability

* Liaise closely with Head of Engineering and the Project and Production Manager

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Essential

* Educated to degree level in a relevant composite material or engineering discipline

* Excellent experience of composite materials (10+ years)

* Experience of composite manufacturing

* Management, leadership and organisational skills

* To have a strong understanding of the use of correct materials and an understanding of material properties

* Use of correct materials and understanding of material properties

* Excellent IT skills (Solidworks and MS Office)

Desirable

* Qualified in a project management discipline
