Security Guard (PT)

This position is responsible for overseeing security operations primarily after hours and weekends. This position reports directly to the Chief of Public Safety.
Primary responsibilities include:
Provides safe and secure environment for students, employees and guest on campus and in residence halls.
Patrol interior and exterior of premises to detect and prevent potential safety and security hazards.
Answer alarms and investigate suspicious/unauthorized persons.
Establish and maintain good rapport with students, employees and community members.
Help create and maintain a working relationship with local law enforcement, fire and EMS.
Enforcing parking regulations for unauthorized vehicles that are parked on college property.
Observe and report violations of safety and health code.
Prepare incident reports.
Monitor security and surveillance equipment.
Monitors and authorizes entrance onto campus and into restricted areas.
Performs other tasks as may be deemed appropriate by the Chief of Public Safety.
Requires knowledge of relevant technology and equipment (eg security cameras and recording systems), as well as basic computer skill (eg Microsoft Office). Certification in CPR/AED and first aid preferred. Requires excellent interpersonal communications skills oral/written. Requires the ability to maintain composure during emergency situations. Demonstrate problem solving and decision making skills. Ability to work well with the campus community. This position requires strong attention to detail, effective multitasking skills, and the ability to work in a team atmosphere.

This position requires the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and negligible amount of force frequently. Work requires climbing, balancing, stooping, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, running, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering and grasping; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas.
High school diploma or GED required and at some prior law enforcement experience is strongly preferred.
Starting hourly rate is $15.00
