Flint is looking for a Database SME preferable with an SQL background to work inside a Voice & Data Telecommunications network Databases play an increasing important role in the services we provide to customers from subscription management to network management and security. You will be a skilled SQL developer managing and make best use of a number of Embedded databases. The role will provide the opportunity to participate in a variety of interesting projects using both discrete and cloud based databases.

Principle responsibilities:

  • Serve as the subject matter expert for solution architecture that will include configuration, development, integration and customization of complex environments
  • Help write and optimize in-application SQL statements and to help other teams obtain the data they need in the most efficient manner
  • Ensure performance, security, and availability of mission critical databases
  • Handle common database procedures such as upgrade, backup, recovery, migration, etc.
  • Profile server resource usage and make recommendations for optimizations
  • Take responsibility for monitoring trends and make recommendations for technology adoption based tangible benefits

Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • Strong proficiency with SQL and its variations (with relevant certifications).
  • Recent hands-on experience with SQL Database development, implementations, testing and support.
  • Strong technical and functional proficiency in SQL Database development tasks
  • Skilled at optimizing large and complex SQL statements
  • Experience with High Availability aspects of Oracle databases preferred (incl. Oracle Data Guard experience)
  • Experience with other relational databases preferred
  • DBA Skills, Mongo
  • Cloud AWS or Azure would be a great advantage
  • Experience with DevOps approach to database deployments and upgrades
  • Experience documenting and analysing processes, procedures, and/or policies.
  • Capable of troubleshooting common database issues.
  • Familiarity with Cisco infrastructure
  • Self-motivated and flexible with the ability to manage multiple and often changing priorities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrable ability to learn and embrace new technologies, applications and solutions.
