POSITION SUMMARY: The Registered Nurse provides direct nursing care to the residents and supervises day to day nursing activities performed by the nursing assistants. This position is responsible for ensuring that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times, in accordance with current federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations that govern the facility. # EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION Must possess, at a minimum, a nursing degree from an accredited school of nursing, or college and possess current, unencumbered Connecticut license to practice as a Registered Nurse. # EXPERIENCE A minimum of one year experience in a hospital, long term care facility or other related health care facility is strongly preferred. # ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITES: Disclaimer: Job descriptions are not intended, nor should they be construed to be, exhaustive lists of all responsibilities, skills, efforts or working conditions associated with the job.# They are intended to be accurate reflections of the principal duties and responsibilities of this position.# These responsibilities and competencies listed below may change from time to time. # # Job-Specific Competency 1.##### Collects accurate and thorough data on admission and on an ongoing basis through the nursing and assessments, including review of the medical record, as per departmental policy. 2.##### Anticipates changes in the resident#s condition, based upon resident assessment data.# Recognizes subtle abnormalities in the residents# condition and anticipates the effect on outcomes. 3.##### Accurately identifies actual and potential nursing or problems and/or change in condition/status; Notifies nurse supervisor per policy. 4.##### Assess resident and/or family learning needs, including needs, including the ability and readiness to learn and accurately completes patient education tool. 5.##### Accurately completes necessary documentation of all aspects of the nursing process on an ongoing basis, in a timely manner, as per policy. 6.##### Collaborates with interdisciplinary team or participates in meetings with family/responsible parties regarding status of resident and plan of care. 7.##### Integrates resident, family and/or interdisciplinary staff assessments to follow a comprehensive plan of care. 8.##### Appropriately delegates duties and tasks to team members and directs and monitors delivery of care by CNA#s. 9.##### Mentors team members to develop their maximum potential within their scope of practice and closely monitors Certified nursing assistant delivery of care. 10.# Implements prescribed medical and psychosocial nursing interventions appropriately based on assessments and evaluates residents response to planned interventions. 11.# Consistently administers medication and IV fluids accurately, according to policies. 12.# Consistently anticipates and identifies emergency situations and takes action to prevent or minimize a negative outcome and demonstrates the ability to organize and delegate appropriately in emergency situations
