Our client is looking for a Fitter to build and assemble a range of automation and ancillary equipment within the Fitting shop efficiently and effectively resulting in high levels of production and quality. The assembly, development and testing of special purpose, bespoke automation.

Our customer is an established Sheffield Manufacturer producing products for global markets. They are financially secure and growing which is why this additional requirement has come about.

The role will involve:

- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings.

- Assembling intricate machinery to tight tolerances.

- Utilising hand-tools to cut, grind and shape components to ensure they fit correctly.

- Using initiative to establish where wiring should be placed, ensuring its protection and safety of the machine user.

- Potentially getting involved in the installation/commissioning of the machine, and hand-over with the field service engineer.

- Support the fitting shop for standard machinery where necessary.

Due to the varied, specialised and often prototype nature of the work the fitter has to demonstrate the ability to problem solve and use a high level of initiative to achieve assembly and build solutions. You will also need the ability to understand and interpret engineering, pneumatic and hydraulic drawings. The reading of electrical drawings would be an advantage although not necessary.

There will be overtime available at enhanced rates. Usually after shift during the week, there may be some the odd weekend too
