Permanent | Full Time Hours | 37 hours per week

Our Role

The Product Engineer will work closely with the Product Management team with the SSE Enterprise Telecoms division. Your role is to provide technical solutions, testing and evaluation for new product requests from the Product Management team within the Telecoms Network.

You will work in a dynamic and engaging environment where the functions within the team can vary from project-to-project. The role is very much hands-on and is positioned as a centre of technical excellence that can influence strategy.

Your passion for delivering the right results for the business and determination to deliver work in short cycle times is essential to the role and you will leverage business resources with efficiency to provide infrastructure enhancements.

An eagerness for learning is required as you will continually research for alternative technology partners to complement and enhance current infrastructure.

Your Skills and Experience

You will have relevant experience of product engineering within a multi-disciplined role and a desire to develop on current knowledge.

Strong influence and excellent communication skills are essential to the success of this role. You will deliver training sessions to the wider Design Team on the technology as well as the existing network architecture, processes, capacity allocation and records.

Youll have a strategic approach with sound commercial or service enhancing justification for investment while being dedicated to meeting customer expectations, including the ability to deliver on deadlines.

It is key that you should have technical knowledge of the following:

- IP: Cisco, Alcatel (All layer 2 and 3 products and services including MPLS, L2VPN, L3VPN, Managed services, QoS, Wireless, Internet offering)

- Optical, SDH, PDH: Ciena, Turin, Sorrento, Magdalene. (All products and services)

- Fibre: Types, capacity and testing

- Strong Understanding of Unified Communications & Network Protocols: OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, SIP, IPsec, ICE, DNS/DHCP and SNMP
