As a result of on-going new product innovation and improvements to their supply
chain, this established yet highly successful design, development and manufacturing
organisation are seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager to undertake a pivotal
role developing and executing the Purchasing strategy for the company.
The Purchasing Manager's role will be varied and encompass all aspect of procurement support for a range of complex electro-mechanical products.
The key driver for the role is to utilise your strategic Purchasing acumen to identify, implement and deliver a robust supply chain strategy that enables the business to meet its strategic plans.
There will be particular focus on establishing appropriate overseas supply bases to support both their international customers and regional offices based across the US, Far East and Europe.
In your capacity as Purchasing Manager you will work alongside the Materials Manager and not only develop the strategy but also play a pivotal role during the New Product Development Processes, sitting in on project meetings and ensuring the seamless supply of parts both for development and full scale production.
Key responsibilities for Purchasing Manager will include:
Implementation of a robust Supply Chain Strategy
Contract negotiation (UK & Global)
Establishing overseas / Low cost country (LCC) sourcing
Playing a key role in supporting the NPI process, ensuring new products meet demand across sourcing, supplier selection, cost and Quality Cost Delivery (QCD) targets.
Assessing current purchasing / supply chain processes and identifying areas for improvement
Utilising your technical acumen within engineering / Manufacture to liaise confidently with suppliers
To succeed in this varied and highly autonomous role you will need to have a proven track record in Purchasing Management within an electro-mechanical manufacturing environment and broad-based electro-mechanical commodity knowledge.
Strategic purchasing acumen and first-class negotiation skills essential.
Experience of Low Cost Country Sourcing / overseas sourcing highly desirable as this will be a key element of the role.
Any Engineering qualification / CIPS highly advantageous.
