Senior Engineer - District Heating

Salary: Up to £56,500 plus excellent benefits
Permanent | Full Time Hours | 37 hours per week
The Engineer – District Heating will serve as the principal technical expert within the team in district energy networks (heating and cooling). Experience and an understanding of energy centres is expected, including combined heat and power equipment, package boilers, heat pumps and chillers. You will be responsible for providing technical leadership across the team to deliver conceptual district heating network designs and associated operational phase engineering work, in line with applicable standards and specifications.
The role includes the approval and on-going management of relevant engineering and design standards within SSE Enterprise and ensuring that future design-work developed in-house and by external contractors complies with good industry practice. You will be responsible for the review and acceptance/approval of detailed engineering designs for new-build assets; and for the provision of specialist engineering support and advice to asset operators and project teams.
Your Skills and Experience
You will have extensive experience as a qualified mechanical or process engineer with demonstrable expertise in district heating and cooling engineering, including fluid network design.
You will have strong knowledge of the techno-economic drivers affecting profitability of this sector, particularly capital and operating costs, system efficiencies and revenue streams. A current understanding of environmental regulations and drivers affecting the sector will be advantageous.
Ideally, you will be a Chartered Engineer and/or member of Engineering Council.
