The Automation Engineer, also known as the PLC programmer, has the following responsibilities and tasks:

* Will be assigned to one or more parallel projects. All projects at are managed and based on the “GATE Stage” model

* Has the overall responsibility for the functionality of the control system in each project

* Works in close cooperation with the Controls Project manager, including installation reports as well as feedback and information about any challenges

* Prepares PLC and HMI program as well as frequency converters and other auxiliary equipment based on company guidelines and controls concept while in the office

* Attends internal project meetings as well as external project meetings with customers

* Agrees on signal interface with the SCADA/MES engineer when SCADA and/or MES is part of the scope of supply

* Responsible for onsite commissioning from IO test to final handover to customer/end customer

* Commissioning around the whole world and must therefore account for many travel days. Can on larger projects be substituted with another automation engineer but if possible this is limited in order to avoid many handovers between programmers

* Handover to, and training of, operators and maintenance crew

* Responsible for handing over as built information regarding IO-lists, layout etc. to the Project Manager

* Supply the documentation team with information for the functional description handed over to the end customer

* Supply the documentation team with information in case translation of HMI is necessary

* Give feedback to the ongoing standardization in the Controls Department. In some cases work as a developer when new functionalities are required

* Share knowledge with the rest of the Controls Department and programmers

Qualifications and Requirements

* Educated as an automation engineer, controls engineer, electrical and electronics engineering or similar

* Self-driven, with a positive outlook and good communication skills

* Minimum two years of experience in a similar position

* Used to working in teams as well as on your own

* Good at sharing information across the entire organization

* Used to traveling and planning your own day

* Working in a structured and safe manner and ensuring tasks are finished to the demanded quality

* Experience with Siemens TIA Portal and WinCC HMI (bonus if experience with Allen Bradley)

* Ability to speak and write English effortlessly, other languages such as German are also preferable

* Must be willing to pick up the tools and get dirty fingers

* Can work in global company with ability to sometimes work in a fast paced and hectic environment

* Willing to undertake further education to allow personal development for the benefit of the company
