Safety Instrumented System Engineer – Bradford - £Neg

Our client is a leading global producer of specialty chemicals for water-intensive industries and are looking to recruit a Safety Instrumented System Engineer to join their team.

Duties & Responsibilities

* As a Safety Instrumented System Engineer, you are responsible for ensuring that all safety instrumented systems are designed and maintained in compliance with the company and IEC61508 standards, with a focus on continuous improvement and optimization of all Safety Instrumented System (SIS) lifecycle activities.

* Ensure all EHS/Engineering/Maintenance safe working systems, procedures and practices are followed and maintain good housekeeping to 5S standards

* Provide expert Safety Instrumented System (SIS) support to capital projects, participate in SHE reviews, 4-eyes review of all critical SIS documentation, verification and validation, commissioning including factory and site acceptance testing

* Ensure correct project handover to operations and maintenance including populating a Z-Dossier (Virtual binder for SIS documentation) and ‘SMART’ (SIS malfunction reporting) database

* Implement modification to existing SIS, ensuring the change is managed correctly utilizing the SPLC’s version comparison tools, 4-eyes review, documentation, commissioning and sign off

* Responsible for the implementation of strategies to maintain the sites safety instrumented systems, including proof testing, equipment lifecycle, health checks, program back-ups, critical spares, automation security and failure reporting with root cause analysis

* Drive continuous improvement and seek optimization opportunities within all SIS lifecycle activities, supporting the implementation of staggered proof testing and simplifying/standardizing testing techniques

* Develop and train out SIS training packages across site, contents of each package to be tailored to the target audience, highlighting their roles and responsibilities within engineering, maintenance and operations

* Work with your manager to identify your learning and development needs, working to an agreed learning and development plan

The Individual

* Degree or equivalent in a relevant Engineering discipline

* Experienced in Functional safety design, implementation and testing

* IEC61508/11 experience and training, ideally TUV certified functional safety engineer

* Experience in the delivery of capital projects

* Competent in the use of MS office and engineering applications

* Hima SILWorX engineer training and experience – preferable
