Business Development Executive

London based with flexibility to travel

£30,000 - £33,000 base salary plus benefits

Our client provides impartial, trusted leadership and management support to schools in England and Wales. They are a fast-growing company with big ambitions, and on this basis, are looking for a highly motivated Business Development Executive. The successful candidate will take responsibility for building and managing a strong pipeline within their given regions, driving sales of memberships for our client’s services to schools and local authorities, to quarterly and annual targets.

In this role you will:

• Develop a sound understanding of the wider education sector in the context of school leadership and governance, using this knowledge to enhance sales consultation

• Research and map the market potential for the given territory, including the make-up of school groups and multi-academy trusts in the region and local authorities

• Write and execute an annual sales plan, outlining prospects and related activity that will meet or exceed targets

• Build and grow a pipeline by identifying and targeting potential partners and groups of schools/partner organisations, to ensure quarterly and annual targets are met, adapting plans and activity where necessary

• Determine decision makers and business opportunities through expert networking, relationship building and research

• Pitch and sell to prospect schools/groups of schools and local authorities via the telephone, written communications and localised campaigns, proposals, tenders, face-to-face meetings, presentations and networking opportunities

• Be a highly professional brand ambassador for our client, making use of networking opportunities, conferences and events in the region

• Adapt and deliver PowerPoint presentations at meetings with groups of schools

The ideal candidate will:

• Have a proven track record in B2B, consultative sales experience, ideally within the schools, education or public sector

• Have experience of writing a sales plan, mapping opportunities to sales targets

• Have a proven record of successfully building and managing a sales pipeline, closing sales and meeting targets

• Be confident, resilient, proactive, and motivated to hit and exceed targets

• Be a confident communicator with outstanding, persuasive presentation skills and excellent written and spoken English

• Have excellent time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise and multi-task efficiently and flexibly manage a busy workload

• Be a compelling negotiator, while maintaining professional and appropriate conduct at all times

• Be a team player, working supportively of other business development managers, and co-operatively with operational colleagues and others

• Have a full, clean UK driving licence
