Contract Senior Procurement Category Manager
Spectrum IT's Hampshire client are currently in a period of significant growth and national expansion, due to this they wish to recruit a Contact Senior Procurement Category Manager to focus on both day to day procurement oversight but also business growth working closely with the newly appoint Strategic Head of Procurement.
This is an initial 3 month contract, it has been deemed Inside IR35 (engagement via umbrella company) and has hybrid working with atleast 2 days required on site per week in Portsmouth.
The position of Contact Senior Procurement Category Manager is a critical role within a Procurement team that is rapidly transforming and focusing on the execution of a new strategy and Operating Model under a new leader. The Senior Category Manager is responsible for commercial leadership of a wide portfolio of supply categories, across Marketing, Operations, Product, HR, Finance and Facilities. Securing exceptional commercial outcomes with Tier 1 suppliers and overseeing the Vendor Management Framework are further responsibilities. The role will act as a Business Partner to Directors and Contract Owners, providing advice and guidance for Procurement and supplier-related matters. In addition, the Senior Category Manager will support the Procurement Transformation programme. This is a role for an experienced Procurement professional, ready to drive change and be part of a dynamic, strengthening team.
Responsibilities
- Negotiate exceptional supply contracts, to maximise value.
- Business Partnering with Functional Leaders and Contract Owners, to create value through optimised supply contracts, plus develop Category Supplier Strategies and vendor roadmaps.
- Oversee Vendor Management, supporting Contract Owners and driving Quarterly Business Reviews with Tier 1 vendors.
- Strong category expertise across Marketing, HR, Facilities, Finance, Operations and Product, with knowledge of suppliers in this space.
- Deliver discrete elements of Procurement Transformation, with a relentless drive for process simplification, and digitisation.
- Deliver a monthly Win Sheet of completed commercial contracts.
- Drive contract completion, taking a proportionate approach to managing risk and liaising with Legal, DP, Infosec and Finance to assure strong contracts.
- Training other team members as and when necessary to aid in their development.
- Procurement advice and assisting the business with procurement related questions.
- Any other duties reasonably requested by the Procurement Manager.
Skills and Experience
- Conscientious work ethic with ability to manage own workload and prioritise accordingly.
- Background in Marketing Procurement
- CIPS qualification
- Experience of Procurement transformation and developing new Target Operating Models.
- Exceptional commercial and financial acumen, with a solid understanding of how to create value from supply agreements.
- Negotiation prowess.
- A pragmatic approach, with ability to exercise sound judgement.
- Gravitas to be a strong ambassador for the business in front of suppliers.
- Experienced in contract review and mark-up with understanding of contract law principles.
- Excellent people skills - confident to work with people at all levels, both internal and external.
- Methodical and organised, able to work on your own initiative and to work on multiple projects with tight deadlines.
