SQL Database Administrator
Auxilion are looking to hire a SQL Database Administrator
The role of the Database Administrator is to be responsible for the monitoring and managing performance, integrity, and security of several core SQL databases for multiple Customers. The successful applicant will be involved in the planning and maintenance of SQL Server databases, as well as in the troubleshooting various issues on behalf of the Customers. They will take ownership of multiple tests, development and production environments and be responsible for the maintenance of these environments to ensure all databases and Servers are performing optimally.
Expert knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server Database Administration and Support for organisation wide, business critical relational databases of multiple customers of SOC.
Previous commercial SQL DBA experience. (5 years. minimum)
Skills Required:
- Previous commercial SQL DBA experience. (5 years minimum)
- Expert knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server Database Administration and Support for organisation wide, business critical relational databases.
- Expert knowledge of SQL Server backup and recovery techniques.
- Working knowledge of SQL Server High availability technologies such as Failover Clustering, Database Mirroring and AlwaysOn Availability Groups.
- Expert knowledge in Troubleshooting and Optimising Database Performance.
- Working knowledge of managing SQL Servers hosted in Azure.
- Excellent understanding of Windows Operating Systems.
- Excellent documentation and communication skills.

- Provide effective support for databases across Dev, Test and Production environments.
- Performance Monitoring and Tuning (Index maintenance, housekeeping, memory, CPU, Disk I/O etc.)
- Planning and execution of Service Pack upgrades.
- Work closely with other team members and adhere to change management procedures.
- Implement best practices on Microsoft SQL Server Databases and Servers.
- Participate in database upgrades and migrations for end customers.
- Pro-actively identify productivity opportunities.
- Ensure correct procedures are adhered to as tasks are being progressed.
- Ensure that customers have appropriate database maintenance in place including backups, index maintenance, consistency checks etc.
- Involved in the design and build of new systems, including high-availability and disaster recovery solutions.
- Able to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical problems and incidents.
