Student Support Specialist Online Programs Job Summary/Basic Function Perform limited technical program support work within a management discipline to develop recommendations within defined policy Required Qualifications Three years of advanced clerical or para-professional experience or equivalent combination of experience and training. Demonstrated experience with database management and Microsoft Office. Ability to: Solve problems. Handle multiple, complex tasks with accuracy and attention to detail while maintaining a professional demeanor in fast-paced work environment. Maintain confidentiality and good working relationships. Work independently. Type. Sit for long periods of time. Change priorities with little/no notice. Use office machines such as telephone, computer, scanner, copier. Excellent customer service and oral, written and interpersonal communication skills. Demonstrated evidence of commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion. Successful interview and background checks: Act 34; Act 151 (Child Abuse History Clearance); and Act 114 (FBI Federal Criminal History-Fingerprinting). Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree. Experience working: With adult students in higher education. Within a learning management system (LMS) or taking online courses. Demonstrated knowledge of Banner and Hyperion. Job Description - Serves as the primary point-of-contact for all calls to the office serving as conduit to correct parties. In this role, effective public relations, interpersonal, and oral /written communication skills are critical. - Provides timely assistance in addressing student problems and supporting retention and program completion; the aptitude to assess the needs of students and provide information and/or direction in a timely, clear, and friendly manner is expected. - Coordinates online student registration processes and helps to ensure continuous enrollment; familiarity and/or experience with a learning management system (LMS); - Coordinates new online student processes such as online student orientation, D2L onboarding, and other retention-related services; - Ensures steady and regular flow of information to online students (email, etc.) about campus procedures, policies, events, and other resources; - Serves as primary liaison between the Office of Online Programs and other campus departments/offices concerning online student support services, including student success offices, ELCM, library resources, etc.; ability to maintain good working relationships will be required. - Continuously monitors the needs and experiences of online students and provides reports or recommendations to the Director and Dean as needed; - Provides administrative coordination for the Office of Online Programs to assist in online initiatives; demonstrated knowledge of standard office practices and procedures; - Assists the Director of Online Programs with online student initiatives (i.e. updates to policies and procedures and projects); - Other duties as assigned Essential Functions Ability to: Work independently.
