Durango, Colorado Position Summary The Alumni Engagement Officer will build a culture of engagement among current students and alumni of Fort Lewis College. Reporting to the Director of Alumni Engagement, this person will provide leadership to connect students and alumni in meaningful ways: planning events and volunteer opportunities that engage alumni in the life of the Institution; working in collaboration with Advancement colleagues on various fundraising projects and development related activities; Instilling a culture of what it means to be an alumni within the student body; and building a pipeline of annual gifts in support of FLC's annual fund and special projects. They will also serve as a liaison with campus partners including Athletics, Admissions, Career Services and academic departments to facilitate recruitment of alumni for career mentoring, volunteering and admissions initiatives. The Officer will be creative, strategic, and collaborative in their approach to constituency engagement, working with colleagues across campus and alumni volunteers to advance the mission of Fort Lewis College. This position requires some night and weekend work. Minimum Qualifications · Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university · History of volunteer management Preferred Qualifications · Master's degree from an accredited college or university · Direct higher education experience in alumni engagement or annual giving · Familiarity with the Fort Lewis College culture · Familiarity with Photoshop and donor databases Necessary Skills & Abilities · Exceptional problem solving, customer relations and interpersonal skills with the ability to work with individuals and groups from diverse backgrounds · Strong organizational and planning skills combined with the ability to manage a wide array of tasks and responsibilities with minimal supervision · Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment · Ability to express ideas and convey information effectively · Ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships with each of the FLC departments · Ability to engage a diverse network of campus and community leaders and audiences · Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects at once Major Responsibilities · Provide leadership and direction in connecting students and alumni in meaningful interactions · Expand alumni connections and volunteer involvement and initiatives · Bring alumni back to campus for events throughout the school year involving current FLC students · Develop partnerships with local businesses and institutions that could provide benefits to alumni · Assume responsibility of Alumni Student Networking Club, and the Network night event(s). Consider expanding, establishing, and advising this club to a board or ways to grow the organization · Create new and innovative ways to capture and update alumni contact, career information, academic and professional success of alumni via surveys, email, projects, correspondence, online forms, etc. · Research and consider implementing programs, services, and communications targeted to alumni 35 and under and students approaching graduation. Create targeted communication pieces and plan special events that engage this audience · Grow Admissions and alumni involvement -phone calling programs and various ways for alumni to volunteer with admissions · Establish and build relationships with a wide range of alumni, both locally and abroad, and in collaboration with the Director of Alumni Engagement, maintain regular communication with alumni via direct contact, email blasts, FLC website and print publications that include the alumni magazine as well as assisting in the management of relevant content on social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn. · Consider Implementing and executing the donor/alumni brick campaign · Create a sense of culture and what it means to be alumni from orientation to graduation · Create Dinner for 12 in connecting students, alumni and faculty with each other over dinner · Implement TAG Day (Thank a Giver day) · Assist the Director of Alumni Engagement with planning Homecoming and all other alumni events · Plan and execute new annual alumni engagement events and programming · Collaborate with Career Services in creating and implementing a successful mentorship program · Perform other duties as assigned or apparent. Work Conditions · 12-month exempt staff position · Full time 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. · Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Compensation Salary is $40,000-$45,000 plus a comprehensive benefits package.
