Administrative Specialist II

This position coordinates and manages all pre-award grant activities of the QCP and affiliated funds/projects, including sub-awards to many co-investigators in many collaborating institutions worldwide. The Administrative Assistant will also interface with the appropriate financial experts in the LAS College and ISU to coordinate the program's more than $5 million operating budget and $350,000 equipment budget (funds obtained through grants to both Iowa State University and the Ames Laboratory). The Administrative Assistant will advise faculty and principal investigators in budget development, projections, and annual review reports, in conjunction with the appropriate ISU and Las financial people.
Furthermore, the candidate will coordinate personnel actions for the QCP in conjunction with the LAS College Human Resource Liaison and/or the Human Resource Department of the Ames Laboratory US Department of Energy. The candidate provides training and follow-up for undergraduate/graduate students and postdoctoral researchers with regard to the Ames Laboratory, the Department of Chemistry, and Iowa State University policies and procedures.
The successful candidate will possess exceptional organizational skills. Excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (both written and orally) are necessary in order to be successful in the position. Lastly, the successful candidate will possess the ability to work independently or as a member of a team on multiple, simultaneous projects.
