The National High Magnetic Field Laboratory (NHMFL) in Tallahassee, FL is inviting applicants for a Research Faculty I position in the area of experimental condensed matter physics and materials science with an emphasis on broad-band IR and THz spectroscopy at low temperatures and high magnetic fields. The NHMFL-Tallahassee is the world's premier magnet laboratory with state-of-the-art high magnetic field facilities (up to 21T in superconducting magnets, 35T in resistive DC magnets, 45T in hybrid DC magnets) for research in physics, materials science, engineering, chemistry, geochemistry, biochemistry, and biology. The position is in the DC Field Condensed Matter Science group and the successful candidate will be expected to spend a portion of their time helping users in the NHMFL's DC Field Facility. The successful candidate will work alongside other NHMFL scientists and technicians in the development and improvement of measurement techniques and associated equipment needed for cutting edge research. As a member of the NHMFL, the successful applicant will also be expected to show leadership in the development of a broader, collaborative research program, will have the option to pursue outside funding for personal research, and will be expected to participate proactively in other functions of the Lab, including committee participation, supervision and mentorship of students and postdoctoral researchers, and community outreach. Qualifications Ph.D. in Physics, Chemistry, or Engineering with (24 months) previous post-doctoral experience.
Demonstrated record of achievement in research and hands on experience with IR-THz magneto-spectroscopy measurements at low temperatures.
Experience working with low-temperature measurements at high magnetic fields, including ESR, Raman and Visible optical spectroscopy, electrical transport. Position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check. An Equal Opportunity/Access/Affirmative Action/Pro Disabled & Veteran Employer.
