Overview GBC Metals, LLC, doing business as Olin Brass, utilizes more than 60 different copper-based alloys to produce specialized sheet and strip products for a variety of end uses. Primary markets for our high-performance products include automotive, microelectronic, and communication interconnects, as well as a long history in the supply of standard alloys in the manufacture of ammunition, coinage, and builders' hardware. We currently have an opportunity for a Production Manager at our Somers Thin Strip facility in Waterbury, Connecticut. Responsibilities Purpose of Role The Production Manager is involved with the planning, coordination and control of the manufacturing process, ensuring that the manufacturing process is safe and efficient by allocating resources based on need and cost. The Production Manager works closely with supervisors and maintenance to plan work, set targets, and ensure that finished products meet customer specifications for quality and on-time delivery. Core Accountabilities Exhibit a true commitment to the vision of Olin Brass, including: creating an environment of safety excellence; being passionate about improvement, everywhere, all the time; and being empowered by communication, collaboration, and teamwork.Build a culture that is predicated on safety and achieve recordable/intrinsic safety goals by establishing standards and holding people accountable for their actions.Manage and supervise all of the manufacturing processes to produce quality material on time and on budget.Develop, implement and execute continuous improvement initiatives that quantifiably improve safety, production, yield, 5S or financial metrics. Ensure that manufacturing employees follow company policies/procedures and apply discipline when appropriate.Ensure that equipment is maintained through the TPM process, scheduled preventative maintenance and daily maintenance activities. Use data to establish optimal staffing levels and manage overtime to meet production goals and the current financial plan.Manage based upon the established key performance indicators by using the TTI process to define and execute improvement projects.Qualifications POSITION REQUIREMENTS BS or BA Degree in related field or equivalent experience; Must be knowledgeable with general CPU applications and proficient in all Microsoft Office programs;Ability to manage under the collectively bargained contract;Knowledge of, and experience working, with continuous improvement tools such as 5S, Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen event leadership, and KPI utilization.
