Responsible for GAAP Valuation activities, including:
Index Option Values model and report
VUL Account Value Roll-forward
Calculation and review of DAC and URR balances, including Shadow Adjustments
General Ledger entries and sign-offs for the GAAP actuarial items
Processing and reviewing the impact of GAAP unlockings, model revisions, and true-ups
GAAP analysis and reporting including write-ups for management reporting, a quarterly DAC memo, Embedded Derivatives footnote, and recoverability testing
Coordinate collection of ICFR documentation
Oversee the maintenance of GAAP coding in PolySystems, including the implementation of new products
Support external and internal audit
Review DAC and URR balances in the financial plan
Support GAAP Targeted improvement implementation
Oversee experience studies activities, including:
Annual mortality, surrender/lapse, expense, separate account return, and separate account spread studies, assumption setting, and corresponding audit support
Modernization of experience study systems and models
Documentation, including maintaining compliance with Employer's assumption governance and model risk management frameworks
Data call submissions for regulator and industry purposes including VM-51, LIMRA, SOA, etc.
Quarterly reporting including direct mortality analysis, persistency report, closed block PDO.
Support various on-going and ad-hoc projects from Valuation and Product Design such as block of business review, data analysis, etc.
Develop talent by providing support, training, and feedback for direct reports
FACTORS FOR SUCCESS:
Fellow in the Society of Actuaries and a Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, mathematics, finance, economics, or related field
8-12 years of experience in life insurance with at least two years of experience in a valuation role, and experience managing direct reports
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong technical and analytical skills including experience working with actuarial software including PolySystems or MG-ALFA
Ability to work independenty and effectively manage, prioritize, and satisfy the requests of a variety of stakeholders
