Review and analyze project plans and specifications for special requirements and conditions in order to produce a complete estimate for assigned projects of medium size and complexity.
Study project proposal specifications, job site, and drawings to determine scope of work
Take-off and calculate quantities
Review and incorporate historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports into unit and man-hour figure
Determine method of construction to be used, and accurately estimate required labor, equipment and materials to construct project
Set-up bid in Heavy Bid, pre-bid meeting, agency clarification and/or requirements
Set-up job budgets, information sheet, subcontracts and purchase orders
Prepare bid proposal for submittal
Track awarded contracts as required including customer service, negotiations, change orders, and progress/final billings
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE EDUCATION & SKILLS REQUIRED:
4 year Engineering or Construction Technology Degree or equivalent combination technical training and/or related experience
Ability to comprehend project plans and specifications
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Knowledge of engineering and space relationship
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Knowledge of construction labor and equipment practices and production
Above average math skills
Minimum five (5) years of construction estimating/project management experience in related field or engineering degree with adequate knowledge of construction practices
Computer skills (Heavy Bid, Heavy Job, Excel, Word, JD Edwards)
Must have California driver's license
Clean driving record
Talk and hear
Use hands and fingers
Stand, walk, and reach with arms and hands
Climb, balance, stoop, kneel and crouch
See well (either naturally or with correction)
Able to sit for long periods of time
Ability to talk on telephone
Must be able to drive Company vehicle
Ability to walk on uneven surfaces
