Currently, we are seeking a talented Assistant or Associate Actuary to join the Retirement Solutions Division based in Newport Beach, CA.

The Retirement Solutions Division leverages its strengths in product development, technology, services and risk management to create retirement solutions for individuals, families, and businesses. With the guidance of financial professionals, customers have access to an array of annuities and mutual funds designed to help grow assets and to provide retirement income for financial independence.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • As part of the Valuation team within the Retirement Solutions Division, you will be responsible for:
  • Producing asset/liability projections including business plan, cash flow testing, and RBC C-3 Phase I modeling for payout annuity products
  • Managing junior staff to analyze actuarial projections, including attribution analysis and actual-to-plan comparisons
  • Implementing data controls, system improvements, and automation related to the valuation production processes
  • Performing asset adequacy analysis and preparing the Actuarial Opinion and Memorandum to satisfy regulatory requirements
  • Partnering with the Modeling team and external vendors to test and maintain model upgrades/platforms, assumption updates, and modeling provisions
  • Providing technical support to annuity products with respect to strategic initiatives
  • Supporting Model Risk Management initiatives, including documentation, peer review exercises, and other best practices guidelines
  • Collaborating with other functional departments as needed

FACTORS FOR SUCCESS:
  • ASA or FSA designation in the Society of Actuaries
  • Bachelor's Degree in business administration, finance, mathematics or related field or equivalent discipline
  • At least 5 years of relevant actuarial experience
  • Working knowledge of annuity products, financial statements, and insurance company accounting
  • Proficiency with SQL and database management systems preferred
  • Advanced Excel, related programming (R, Python) skills a plus
  • Ability to work independently, manage long-term projects, and deliver timely results
  • Creativity and initiative in work product
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
