Reports to: Billing Operations Manager
What you will do:
There is currently a vacancy within the Billing Operations Team for an Area Team Leader. The position is to support the West Wales Meter Reading team. This is a fantastic opportunity for the successful candidate to demonstrate their people management skills. They will manage 13 colleagues, one of which will be their Deputy. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who is seeking the next challenge in their career, who can bring passion and strong leadership skills to the Area Team Leader role.
You will be required to communicate clearly and positively at all levels in order to achieve targets and ensure that water meters are accurately read and billed within set timescales. The role requires an individual who can lead a team, motivate others and support continuous improvement positively. It is also critical to have someone who can plan effectively and support their Deputy Team Leader and team on personal development through coaching.
What youll be responsible for:
Responsible for managing a team of Field based staff within a given geographical area and to support the implementation of the departmental performance business plans and measures
- Promoting and maintaining an awareness of health and safety within the field force, proactively identifying and implementing initiatives that create a strong and compliant health and safety culture and actively support the health and safety stand down days
To ensure implementation of effective people management practices within the department, such as resource planning, training and development and compliance with policy and procedure to maximise employee engagement and positive behaviours in line with Company values.
- To plan, forecast and implement the cyclical meter reading activity for water billing meters, within geographical area of control and in line with guidelines, allocating workloads to appropriate resources in order to minimise estimated billing and customer contact whilst providing optimum cash flow opportunities
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Previous experience of having managed remote teams and utilising HR practices in order to maximise performance, including coaching and mentoring staff to ensure staff reach their full potential and are engaged in the business
IOSH or similar qualification to manage health and safety in a field based environment and/or previous experience of managing H&S
Previous experience of having to optimise working practices within the team through continuous improvement and best practice, ensuring effective implementation into operational processes.
Demonstrable evidence of risk awareness and implementation of ideas for improvement
Proven track record of success against business and departmental KPIs
A team player who understands the importance of ownership and accountability
The ability to develop positive working relationships across Retail and the wider business
