Wholesale Banking provides financial solutions to businesses across the United States and globally. Our four major business lines include Corporate & Investment Banking, Commercial Banking, Commercial Real Estate, and Wells Fargo Commercial Capital. We also have groups in credit risk, group risk, finance, marketing, human relations, and the Wholesale Chief Operating Office that support our businesses.

This position is within the Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) Control organization and will be responsible for managing a team of individuals who will implement and execute upon the Conduct Risk program requirements for CIB. The Conduct Risk Manager will provide leadership and coordinate efforts to address requirements of the Wholesale Conduct Risk Program and related enforcements across the CIB lines of business. The manager will be responsible for the implementation of initiatives related to Conduct Governance, Sales Practices and related culture & strategy and monitoring, Complaints, Customer Harm and Remediation, Anti-Bribery & Corruption, Gifts & Entertainment, Internal Fraud and Insider Threat, and Allegations Management.

We seek a professional to play the lead role in implementation of Wholesale conduct programs and initiatives at the direction of and in partnership with the Wholesale Conduct Risk Control Strategy & Transformation Team. The successful candidate will have experience interacting with senior levels in the Company, to participate in complex, high-priority programs through to completion. The candidate will also be able to adapt to changing priorities as the scope of work evolves, sometimes on short notice and with abbreviated timeframes.

Key Responsibilities
For the assigned body of work, the CIB Control Conduct Risk Manager will:

  • Manage a team of individuals responsible for the implementation, design and development of Wells Fargo's plans to meet requirements set forth in the Consent Orders, internal enterprise policies and line of business programs.
  • Execute and manage the advancement of the Conduct Risk Program within CIB Control.
  • Partner with Wholesale Conduct Risk Control to drive planning and execution of initiatives related to the Conduct Risk Management Program.
  • Coordinate with CIB Business Control Managers to ensure proper execution of the Conduct Risk program within the various lines of business.
  • Serve as subject matter expert for the business lines in policies, procedures and program requirements related to conduct and sales practices
  • Implement & maintain the interaction processes between program office, lines of business, functional groups, Compliance, legal counsel and other stakeholders.
  • Drive execution teams to develop detailed implementation plans to meet committed deliverables and timelines, in alignment with committed milestones and overall program plan requirements.
  • Execute project management processes and deliverables, including project tracking, internal reporting, and Board and regulator reporting.
  • Implement recordkeeping practices in accordance with Corporate Records Management Policy protocols.
  • Implement communications processes to key stakeholders.
  • Implement coordination protocols with other enterprise sales practices work streams
  • Work with variety of stakeholders at various levels within business lines to socialize recommendations, escalate issues and drive decisions needed.
  • Partner with Compliance and Risk partners to realize inventory of Policies & Procedures addressing Conduct Risk across business lines. Includes writing of such procedures.
  • Ensure appropriate controls are in place for mitigating Conduct Risk in CIB. Collaborate and guide business line partners on the design and implementation of the controls. Act as the central liaison point to the Control Assurance team, whose responsibility is to evaluate the effectiveness and functioning of the Conduct Risk controls in place.

They are accountable for execution of all applicable risk programs (Credit, Market, Financial Crimes, Operational, Regulatory Compliance), which includes effectively following, and adhering to and if applicable Wells Fargo policies and procedures, appropriately fulfilling risk and compliance obligations, timely and effective escalation and remediation of issues, and making sound risk decisions. There is emphasis on proactive monitoring, governance, risk identification and escalation, as well as making sound risk decisions commensurate with the business unit's risk appetite, and all risk and compliance program requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in compliance, operational risk management (includes audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, or the management of a process or business with accountability for compliance or operational risk), or a combination of both; or 10+ years of IT systems security, business process management or financial services industry experience, of which 5+ years must include direct experience in compliance, operational risk management, or a combination of both
  • 5+ years of management experience

  • Intermediate or higher level of proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including MS Project
  • Experience working with multi-faceted programs to address regulatory enforcement actions
  • Experience working directly with external regulators
