The Human Resources Generalist supports executive management in achieving ASKO's goals in Human Capital Development. Under general supervision, this position researches and aides in the implementation and monitoring of policies, programs and processes that further employee relations, compensation and benefits administration, talent management, internal and external communications, regulatory compliance, and employee services. Reports to Director Human Resources.
Employee Relations: Conducts all New Hire Orientations for new hires in the West Homestead Division. Coordinates all new hire paperwork and informs appropriate parties. Assists in the resolution of employee issues, performance concerns, disciplinary actions and employee advocacy. Provides guidance to managers related to employee retention, performance, policy implementation and interpretation.
Talent Management: Administers the Performance Review Cycle. Collaborates with Director Human Resources to improve process; conducts training on Performance Review Cycle.
Full Cycle Recruiting: Reviews and confirms required skills and competencies; researches and recommends appropriate compensation range. Responsible for developing and managing job postings and job boards. Performs initial screenings of resumes/candidates; assists in the development of interviews; coordinates and participates in interview process. Prepares and presents offers of employment. May represent ASKO at off-site recruitment events.
Compensation: Supports development of and maintains administrative guidelines and procedures; provides analysis for salary planning, incentive compensation, and related issues; implements and documents approved salary recommendations; participates in compensation surveys and conducts regular salary & wage reviews. Maintains compensation records.
Benefits: Performs day-to-day administration of ASKO's group benefits programs and the Retirement Savings Plan; responds to associates' questions; participates in benefits surveys and conducts regular reviews of ASKO's position relative to survey norms; compiles data as necessary for annual marketing of group insurances and for management analysis. Processes all benefit enrollment changes and reconciles monthly invoices.
Compliance: Prepares required disclosures and EEO-1 reports; maintains applicant data, I-9s, sales representative agreements, and other records as required.
Administrative: Processes all salaried non-exempt timecards weekly. Provides training on the guidelines of entering time into ADP correctly. Maintains headcount and hours reports used by various departments. General administrative responsibilities to support the business as necessary.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
Bachelor's degree in human resources, employee relations or business, and at least five years of progressively responsible HR experience with for-profit organization(s) is essential. An advanced degree in human resources, employee relations or business is highly desirable, along with prior experience in a manufacturing organization. Demonstrated ability to manage confidential information, exercise discretion and use sound judgment. Successful candidate must be comfortable working on both large and small projects, performing traditional generalist duties, as well as providing administrative support to the business as needed. Focus is not on the administrative; however, provision of such support is required for this position.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Advanced knowledge of legal and regulatory issues relevant to human resources, prevailing/emerging HR practices, and theories of human and organizational behavior.
Basic knowledge of accounting, finance, operations, statistics and other business disciplines.
Ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing.
Ability to assemble and manipulate spreadsheets and data bases utilizing MS Office applications.
Skill in developing and maintaining effective relationships at all levels of the organization.
