District 19 Community Services Board, located in Old Town Petersburg, VA has an exciting new opportunity for a Nurse Practitioner. The ideal candidate will be an innovative and energetic Autonomous Practice-Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). District 19 CSB is a multi-jurisdictional, community-based organization whose mission is to improve the quality and productivity of the lives of individuals who experience or are at risk of experiencing mental disabilities and/or substance use disorders. District 19 serves individuals in the localities of Colonial Heights, Dinwiddie, Emporia, Greensville, Hopewell, Petersburg, Prince George, Surry, and Sussex.
(Experience, Essential Education, and Skills Needed):
Successful candidate must have knowledge of principles, standards, practices and techniques related to psychiatry, psychiatric illness and wellness; of different diagnoses, participating on multi-disciplinary teams, substance abuse assessment and interventions and how they impact treatment of persons with serious mental illness; prescribing the latest in new psychotropic medicine; skills in psychiatric diagnosis (via assessment & evaluation), treatment, ordering and interpreting labs, consultation and collaboration with other mental health professionals. Experience in community mental health with persons with serious and persistent mental illness, substance abuse and co-occurring disorders and developmental disabilities preferred. Will work closely with Nurse Manager and will provide consultation and guidance for Primary Care Screening and Monitoring program. Basic computer skills are also required.
Position requires a PMHNP license with 5 years of Full time clinical experience in practice area. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification. Candidate must possess a Virginia Autonomous Practice-Licensed PMHNP designation issued by the Virginia Boards of Nursing and Medicine. Must have experience in psychiatric/mental health nursing working with children, adolescents and adults with serious mental, emotional and/or behavioral disorders, including substance use and/or co-occurring disorders. Must consult and collaborate with other healthcare providers based on the clinical conditions of the patient to whom health care is provided; and establish a plan for referral of complex cases and emergencies to psychiatrists/physicians or other appropriate health care providers. Work is performed under the general direction of the assigned program Director/Manager. Must possess and maintain current licensure, autonomous practice designation and prescriptive authority in the Commonwealth of Virginia and with the DEA. Valid Virginia Driver's License with a point balance of -6 or higher, pre-employment extensive background check and drug screening.

Travel to satellite clinics required, with agency vehicle provided or mileage reimbursement for personal vehicle. Positions meet criteria for J-1Visa application.
