University of Northern Iowa's Department of Teaching seeks applications for a Student Teacher Coordinator position. Primary duties include coordinating / supervising PK-12 student teachers and/or early field experience students beginning August 2019. This is a two-year renewable term with a nine-month contract position in the Des Moines Metro Student Teaching Center and surrounding areas. Master's Degree in Education or in Education related field required. Required qualifications include: Minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching experience in a pre-K, elementary, or secondary schoolDemonstrated knowledge and experience with educational supervision and evaluation (i.e. supervision of student teachers/field experience students, teacher leadership position or administrative experience), teaching/learning processes and instructional strategiesDemonstrated ability to work as a member of a curriculum development teamDemonstrated ability to collaborate and communicate with education stakeholdersDemonstrated ability to network with school administration and personnelDemonstrated professional requirements including strong work ethic and integrityDemonstrated organizational, communication, interpersonal and creative skills.Must be able to provide proficient or exemplary evaluation from current or immediate past supervisor. Frequent travel required in and around the Des Moines Metro area. Preference will be given to applicants with demonstrated experience in promoting equity, social justice and diversity; and demonstrated knowledge and skills in integrating technology to support student learning.
