Parsons Assistant Superintendent, Administrative Services April 26, 2019 NEW POSITION VACANCY NOTICE Please Post/Job #1274 TITLE: Secondary Teachers TST P-TECHAcademy Certified Position Full-Time, 10-Month positions Affiliation: Teacher's Association P-Tech/CTE Department Location: Dewitt Middle School We are looking for teachers with the skills and dispositions needed to successfully work with students who enter the P-TECH program as ninth graders, so they successfully earn their Regents Diploma and Associate's Degree, and gain access to a quality work opportunity in either Advanced Manufacturing or Computer Science. DUTIES: Teachers will collaborate with each other, families, business, and community to plan and deliver fully accessible, meaningful & relevant project-based curriculum that is culturally responsive and sustaining. Teachers will develop and deliver curriculum that aligns with the: New York State Next Generation Learning StandardsTC3 college courses and learning outcomes for each of the three Degree PathwaysWorkplace, professional, and life skills needed for success in each of the industries represented by our business partnersPrinciples and best-practices associated with fully inclusive, culturally responsive, integrated, project-based learning and authentic, portfolio-based assessment. Teachers will collaborate with business, community, and higher education partners to design genuine work-based challenges that will ensure every student learns the workplace, professional, and life skills needed for success in their lives, to earn their Regents and Associates Degrees, and to successfully enter into a high-demand career in the BOCES region. In addition, teachers will work with students to evaluate student learning using an authentic assessment approach, including digital portfolios and narrative reporting, to communicate what students have learned and are able to do, to reflect on student growth over time, and to set new learning goals. Teachers will perform other related duties as assigned. (There is an expectation of working 20 days over the summer, with additional compensation.) QUALIFICATIONS: New York State School Teacher Certification in multiple areas preferred, including Special Education, ELA, Math, Science, Social Studies, Fine and Performing Arts, Health & P.E. (Individuals holding certification in only one area for grades 7-12 may also be considered and are urged to apply.) DESIRED CHARACTERISTICS: Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and an assets-based approach to supporting all students and their families, especially students who have been historically marginalized.Familiarity with and desire to incorporate PBL approach to teachingStrong understanding and commitment to "Teacher as facilitator/coach" model of teaching and learning.Innovation, creativity and problem solving approach to to teaching and learning.Evidence of strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.Differentiates instruction to meet every student's needs, including students with IEP's and 504 Plans. (Full-time, 10-month, contractual position begins 9/3/19) SALARY RANGE: $46,000.00 (2 full-time teacher base salary), plus additional salary credit for graduate credits, Master's Degree and prior related experience.
