mdsustain is an environmental and sustainability consulting service within the MannionDaniels Climate and Sustainability Practice. mdsustain is dedicated to helping organisations reduce their impact on the planet and provides guidance, workshops, and tools that support organisations to systematically 1) understand, 2) assess, 3) improve and 4) communicate their environmental sustainability.

Our services provide a modular, yet holistic and systems thinking approach, to integrating environmental sustainability into any organisation s business model and operating context. We encourage organisations to go beyond carbon, and assess, address, and influence their wider environmental impacts. Each organisation is supported to find their own solutions to their unique challenges through our structured framework of user-friendly tools, facilitated exercises, and collaborative workshops. We support diverse clients ranging from UK-based global food distribution companies and international heath actors to consulting firms based in Europe and grassroots charities working Africa.

Role profile

We are looking for a tech-savvy sustainability consultant to deliver high quality services to our growing portfolio of clients. You will be responsible for delivering carbon footprint analyses and reports, modelling net zero trajectories and carbon reduction pathways, and developing sustainability tools to analyse clients environmental impact. You will have expertise in manipulating large data sets, using digital systems, optimising websites, and building advanced excel tools. The role will include using technical expertise, training, and research to strengthen the mdsustain sustainability service offering.

The ideal candidate will be proactive and enthusiastic, have a high attention to detail, a passion for numbers and sustainability, and excellent client relationship skills.

Key responsibilities

• Conducting carbon footprint assessments and producing high quality reports for clients and their stakeholders
• Producing data management tools and learning materials on carbon emissions, reduction targets, and decarbonisation strategies
• Building interactive excel tools for internal and external stakeholders
• Increasing usability, adding functionality, and improving visual design of sustainability materials
• Developing, streamlining, and enhancing the mdsustain sustainability journey and user experience
• Administering and managing the delivery of interactive sustainability sessions to clients and leading delivery when the Climate and Sustainability Lead is not available
• Undertaking training and research to strengthen sustainability service offering
• Responsible for updates to website design and content, including producing articles and social media posts on various sustainability topics
• Manages and updates the CRM System and Learning Management System (LMS) for clients
• Provides support on operational sustainability for the wider company, including carbon reduction and offsetting actions to achieve net zero
• Feeds into business development opportunities as required

Essential Knowledge, Skills & Experience

• At least one year s experience in corporate sustainability or environmental management, particularly calculating carbon footprints
• Experience in carbon footprint accounting and standards (e.g., GHG Protocol)
• Advanced user of Microsoft Excel, experienced in optimising websites and digital tools, and excellent IT skills
• Strong mathematical and analytical background
• Knowledge and ability to articulate key concepts around climate change and sustainability
• Comfortable calling and meeting with a range of clients to discuss carbon data collection, calculations, and reporting requirements
• Excellent project management skills
• Excellent organisational skills and high attention to detail
• A team player with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines
• Proactive and positive, can-do attitude

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Degree or equivalent qualifications in climate change, sustainability and/or environmental science
• Formal training in carbon accounting methodologies and requirements (e.g., GHG Protocol, ISO 14064, SECR)
• Experience in developing sustainability tools, materials, and strategies for businesses
• Knowledge of various environmental and sustainability frameworks including ISO 14001, B Corp, TCFD, SASB, GRI, CSRD
• Experience achieving sustainability improvements in house or as consultancy
• Experience in sustainability engagement strategies and communications
• Experience with CRM and LMS systems

This is a UK based position reporting to the Climate and Sustainability Lead and is based either in London, or in Bath. Occasional international and national travel may be required. Salary and package

Salary range: £34,000 - £41,000 (Within Salary Band 5)
Holiday: 25 days per annum + public holidays
Pension: 8% employer contribution
